From the ceiling, styrofoam rocks are coming down, hitting the ship.

The camera is catching the movement through a reflection, so that it'll look like it's right behind the ship as asteroids hit it.

Moonscape Complete

The base of our moonscape is made of chicken wire and newspaper!

It's covered in newspaper strips dipped in paper mache paste.

And after several days of building, painting and pasting, the lights are wired and attached!

Today, we completed the first frame of the set.

Still a lot left to do.

Progress on the ship:
The key to any sci-fi film is the ship, which we built from parts from American Science and Surplus (99 cent plastic containers, speaker mounts, wagon wheels) and Home Depot (PVC plumbing parts, nuts and bolts).

And here's the final construction!


All that's left to do on the ship is greeble. To do that, we'll use 4 different model battleships.
